Dr Jinmiao Chen is Principal Investigator at Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), A*STAR, adjunct Assistant Professor at Department of Microbiology and Immunology, National University of Singapore.

Dr Chen’s research interest is single-cell and spatial omics integrated with AI for precision immunology. She was identified as a Highly Cited Researcher by the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science Group in both 2020 and 2021. She has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and has an H-index of 42 with over 10,300 citations. She has published in Nucleic Acids Research, Genome Biology, Nature Communications, etc, as corresponding author, and Nature Biotechnology, Science, Cell, etc, as co-author. Using single-cell analysis, she discovered proliferative and quiescent human gastric cancer stem-like cells that were associated with chemo-resistance, immune-suppression, and poor patient prognosis (under review with GUT).

Dr Chen received her bachelor’s degree in Data and Computer Science from Sun Yat-Sen University, China in 2002, and her PhD in AI and Computational Biology from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2008. In 2009, she joined the Bioinformatics team of SIgN, A*STAR Singapore, and later became a Project Leader after a thorough selection process in 2014. Since 2017, she has been a Principal Investigator running a lab that spans both wet lab experiments and dry lab analyses.
