Abstract

Immune conditioning by the microbiome impacts a broad range of diseases. Here, we will discuss innovative strategies for identifying the molecular basis for host-microbiome circuits that modulate critical immune functions in disease. Because these circuits are the products of co-evolution and selection, microbial metabolites are a valuable source of novel molecules enriched for bioactives that modulate host immunity.
